Intermediate Mat Pilates Classes

My take on the traditional Pilates class. Inspired by physio-led training, exercise rehabilitation, and a layering approach to exercises.
Suitable for beginner to intermediate level.

Joseph Pilates' 34 Movements

Joe originally devised 34 Pilates movements which we break down and explore in classes. Some are simple, others are slightly wild; but all can be made fun, interesting and original

Variety

The same 34 can get repetitive – join my intermediate Pilates class and I’ll bring you a different routine every week to keep you engaged and challenged

Suitable for Beginners

My layering approach to exercises means we start simple and build the exercise up to intermediate and often advanced if we feel like it. This ensures we practice best form and technique and makes intermediate exercises accessible to beginners too

Focus

It’s great to spend an hour focusing on your own alignment and movement. We indulge in our own health and wellbeing through the Pilates fundamentals: Concentration, Core Centering, Breathing, Control, Precision & Flow

Equipment

Small equipment is used in Pilates classes, sometimes to aid, and sometimes to challenge. You’ll come across stretchy bands, squishy balls, weighted balls, blocks and straps

FAQ

What Is Pilates?

Based on Joseph Pilates ‘Return to Life Through Contrology’ it is an exercise method designed to correct movement dysfunction, which in turn helps to relieve aches and pains and rehabilitate the body.

Is Pilates A Cardio Workout?

Whilst cardiovascular challenge is not the primary focus of Pilates, it can be done at a quicker tempo to increase heart rate. We practice a lateral breathing technique which allows us to maintain core engagement and take deep breaths simultaneously.

What Should I Bring?

A yoga mat and a water bottle. All other small equipment such as balls, bands and blocks are provided.

How Much Does It Cost?

Class prices vary, currently ranging from £7.50 to £9.00. Workshop prices vary, and 1:1 classes are priced around £45.00 depending on the venue we use.

What Should I Wear?

We do Pilates without shoes, so normal socks or socks with grippy soles are ideal. Clothing you’re comfortable to move around in and won’t restrict movement.

How Long Are Pilates Classes?

My classes run for 60mins, although workshops are usually longer. If we’re tailoring a session for your club or 1:1 session we can discuss timings.

What Are Your Opening Hours?

I check my emails and mobile daily, although I’m often teaching or on the road. I will try to get back to you ASAP. I do take some down time Friday – Sunday, so I appreciate your patience.
